Yhdysvaltain maavoimaministeri Daniel P. Driscoll tekee työvierailun Suomeen 18.-19. kesäkuuta.

Puolustusministeri Antti Häkkänen ja maavoimaministeri Driscoll tapaavat perjantaina 19. kesäkuuta Mikkelissä.

Ministerit keskustelevat maiden välisestä puolustusyhteistyöstä, ajankohtaisista Nato-asiakokonaisuuksista, lähialueen turvallisuustilanteesta sekä harjoitusyhteistyöstä.

– Olemme aktiivisesti syventäneet Suomen ja Yhdysvaltojen välistä puolustusyhteistyötä, ja syvennämme sitä edelleen. Esimerkkinä maidemme välinen DCA-sopimus, joka kertoo Yhdysvaltojen sitoutumisesta Suomen turvallisuuteen ja luo edellytykset yhteistoiminnalle kriisitilanteessa, sanoo puolustusministeri Häkkänen tiedotteessa.

Työvierailun aikana ministeri Driscoll tapaa myös puolustusvoimien johtoa ja tutustuu Suomen puolustusteollisuuteen. Puolustusministeriö toimii työvierailun isäntänä.

Maavoimaministeri Driscoll tapaa vierailun yhteydessä myös tasavallan presidentin.
