„Kandydatka wyśmienita” – mówił o Monice Piątkowskiej premier Donald Tusk, gdy razem z ministrem obrony Władysławem Kosiniakiem-Kamyszem ogłaszał we wtorek (9 czerwca 2026) jej start w nadchodzących wyborach na prezydenta Krakowa. Ogłoszenie nastąpiło podczas skromnej konferencji prasowej w Warszawie, za co na całą trójkę posypały się gromy ze strony wszystkich liczących się kontrkandydatów. Niesłusznie – przekonuje w rozmowie z OKO.press popierana przez KO i PSL Piątkowska.
Przed Koalicją Obywatelską, której Monika Piątkowska jest członkinią, stoi trudne zadanie. Ugrupowanie musi podnieść się po bolesnej referendalnej porażce Aleksandra Miszalskiego i przedstawić wiarygodny plan na prezydenturę. Ostatnie dwa tygodnie upłynęły pod znakiem niepewności w obozie KO.
Kandydatury zaprezentowały Lewica, Konfederacja, Prawo i Sprawiedliwość. Prezydenckie ambicje potwierdzili też influencerka Marianna Schreiber i były szef NIK Marian Banaś. Koalicja Obywatelska długo milczała. Słychać było tylko przecieki dotyczące kolejnych nazwisk.
Wydawało się, że prawdopodobna będzie kandydatura związanego z Krakowem Bartłomieja Sienkiewicza, na ostatniej prostej włączył się multimilioner, deweloper i znany z udziału w rajdach Dakar kierowca Rafał Sonik.
Koalicja nie miała oczywistego kandydata, ławka z potencjalnymi następcami Miszalskiego była krótka. Wreszcie padło na Piątkowską. Wcześniej mówiło się o możliwości objęcia przez nią urzędu rządowego komisarza, który przeprowadzi miasto przez okres pomiędzy referendum a wyborami.
Kto chce kandydować na urząd prezydenta Krakowa?
Michał Drewnicki, radny miejski i lokalny rzecznik Prawa i Sprawiedliwości;
Daria Gosek-Popiołek, posłanka Lewicy, wcześniej w partii Razem. W ostatnich wyborach samorządowych poparła niezależnego Łukasza Gibałę;

Bartosz Bocheńczak, który prowadził kampanię prezydencką Sławomira Mentzena, kandydat Konfederacji;
Jan Hoffman, przewodniczący Rady Dzielnicy I (Stare Miasto), główny organizator referendum odwoławczego;
Michał Klimek, działacz Konfederacji Korony Polskiej Grzegorza Brauna, kwiaciarz;
Łukasz Wantuch, były radny miejski, słynący do tej pory z niekonwencjonalnych pomysłów na miasto;
Marianna Schreiber, influencerka;
Marian Banaś, były szef NIK;
Marta Ratuszyńska, radomianka i liderka inicjatywy Dobry Radom. Postuluje stworzenie konsorcjum miast Kraków-Radom i wspólną budowę bazy Europejskiej Agencji Kosmicznej;
Monika Piątkowska kandydatka Koalicji Obywatelskiej.
Wielkim nieobecnym na tej liście jest niezależny radny i lider ugrupowania Kraków dla Mieszkańców Łukasz Gibała, który w 2024 roku tylko nieznacznie przegrał z Aleksandrem Miszalskim i wsparł finansowo inicjatywę referendalną.
Niewykluczone, że odpuści start i będzie kandydował dopiero w kolejnych wyborach w 2029 roku. Wybrany teraz prezydent ma jedynie dokończyć kadencję samorządową, czyli będzie rządził najwyżej trzy lata. Mówi się też o starcie Rafała Komarewicza (Centrum) oraz Pawła Śliza (Polska 2050).
Kandydaci, by oficjalnie zgłosić swój udział, muszą zebrać przynajmniej 3 tysiące podpisów osób uprawnionych do głosowania.
Obecnie Piątkowska jest senatorką, w 2025 roku zajęła w Izbie Wyższej miejsce Bogdana Klicha, który przejął wtedy ambasadę w Waszyngtonie. Jest prezeską branżowej Izby Zbożowo-Paszowej. W tej roli często wypowiadała się w mediach. To ona stała za zdaniem o „robakach”, które rzekomo miały zanieczyszczać ukraińskie zboże. Na łamach OKO.press weryfikowaliśmy to stwierdzenie.
