Italy deploys an air defense system in Turkey

Italy has deployed a surface-to-air defense system in central Turkey as part of NATO's defensive plans, according to a statement by Turkey's Ministry of Defense. The SAMP-T system, developed through a French-Italian partnership, is being stationed at the 3rd Command of the main combat base in Konya. This follows NATO forces, including Italian and Turkish units, intercepting four ballistic missiles fired from Iran toward Turkish territory in March.

SAMP-T je mobilni raketni sistem zemlja-zrak razvijen u francusko-talijanskom partnerstvu, a djeluje protiv borbenih zrakoplova, dronova, krstarećih raketa i nekih balističkih raketa.
