Broad package worth €2 bln in the works

The Greek government is developing an economic support package valued at over €2 billion, which includes tax cuts, increased minimum wages, changes to property taxation, and relief for rental income. The plan aims to support businesses, workers, professionals, and property owners, with implementation spread over four years.

The government is working on a broad package of tax cuts and economic support measures worth more than €2 billion that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to present in his keynote speech at the Thessaloniki International Fair in September.

Among other measures designed to boost businesses, workers, professionals and property owners, the package is expected to include another increase in the minimum wage, with the government aiming to push it above €950 by 2027.

Changes to property taxation are also on the table, along with tax relief on rental income and expanded housing support.

The government is also examining adjustments to the tax framework for self-employed professionals while maintaining efforts to combat tax evasion.

Officials say the measures would be implemented gradually over the next four years, spreading their fiscal cost across multiple state budgets rather than concentrating them in the run-up to the next election.

Bias read (Center): The article presents factual information about proposed economic policies without overtly favoring any political side. It outlines the content of the package neutrally, mentioning both supportive measures and efforts to combat tax evasion. There is no evident ideological framing or biased language.
