Fire in Vienna-Döbling: 59-year-old after resuscitation in the clinic

A 59-year-old man was seriously injured in a fire at an apartment in Vienna-Döbling on Thursday evening. Firefighters found him motionless and performed immediate resuscitation efforts before transporting him to the hospital in critical condition. According to the treating doctor, there is no acute life-threatening danger. The cause of the fire was determined to be a burning cigarette by investigators from the Vienna State Criminal Police Office.

Ein Mann ist am Donnerstagabend bei einem Brand in einer Wohnung in der Heiligenstädter Straße in Wien-Döbling schwer verletzt worden. Einsatzkräfte der Berufsfeuerwehr Wien fanden den 59-Jährigen reglos vor. Der Mann wurde ins Freie gebracht, wo die Feuerwehr umgehend Reanimationsmaßnahmen einleitete, berichtete die Polizei am Freitag. Der Mann wurde in kritischem Zustand in ein Krankenhaus gebracht.

Ursache steht fest

Laut behandelndem Arzt besteht keine akute Lebensgefahr. Der Brand konnte von der Berufsfeuerwehr Wien rasch gelöscht werden. Ermittler des Landeskriminalamtes Wien stellten als Brandursache eine brennende Zigarette fest.
