Podczas gdy ukraińskie deep strike’i niszczą rafinerie głęboko wewnątrz Federacji Rosyjskiej, a middle strike’i rujnują logistykę rosyjskiej armii na zapleczu frontu, Polska decyduje się na dużo bliższy cel: szykuje potężny strzał we własną stopę.

„Polacy wpadli w totalną histerię” – komentowali dziennikarze ukraińskiego Radia NV. „Postradali rozum”.
To solidne medium, jest w nim mnóstwo dobrych eksperckich komentarzy. Najczęściej – trudno, żeby było inaczej – na temat wojny. Ostatnio regularnie analizowana jest np. skuteczna kampania middle strike’ów (uderzeń na średnim dystansie) w obwodach donieckim i zaporoskim, która sparaliżowała logistyczne zaplecze rosyjskiej armii. To m.in. dzięki niej Rosjanie w maju niemal nie zajęli nowych ukraińskich terytoriów , a prawdopodobnie wręcz wyszli na minus – to ich najgorszy miesiąc od jesieni 2023 roku.
Kolejny temat: Petersburg i bezceremonialny, doskonale skonstruowany list Zełenskiego do Putina, którego publikacja zbiegła się z uderzeniem w tamtejszą rafinerię, port wojenny i zakłady przemysłu zbrojeniowego. Na gościach Petersburskiego Międzynarodowego Forum Ekonomicznego, na których – zgodnie z planem organizatorów – wrażenie miała zrobić rzekoma potęga gospodarcza Rosji, niepowtarzalne wrażenie musiało zrobić coś zupełnie innego: kłęby czarnego dymu nad “drugą stolicą”.
A jeszcze inny temat: niedostatek rakiet obrony przeciwlotniczej. Ukraińcy skutecznie zestrzeliwują drony uderzeniowe (co nie zmienia faktu, że są one niezmiennie szalenie groźne), ale z balistyką radzą sobie gorzej, przez co rosyjska kampania terroryzowania ukraińskich miast pochłania coraz więcej ofiar cywilnych – budynek trafiony rakietą może się “złożyć”, grzebiąc dziesiątki ludzi.
Tak było w nocy 14 maja, gdy w blok z wielkiej płyty na jednym z kijowskich blokowisk uderzyła rakieta manewrująca Ch-101.
Byłem tam, gdy właśnie kończyła się akcja ratunkowa. Na skwerku obok leżały kwiaty i pluszowe przytulanki – w ataku zginęły 24 osoby, w tym trójka dzieci. Na skrawku podłogi, który pozostał po czymś, co wcześniej było szóstym piętrem, tuż nad kanionem z betonowych gruzów stała otwarta lodówka – na zbliżeniach z nagrań i zdjęciach widać jakiś słoik dżemu, plastikowe opakowanie bodaj jogurtu, butelkę szampana. Tak jak całe to miejsce – przerażająca rana po zniszczonym, codziennym życiu.
I w ten kontekst wjeżdża polski orszak polityki historycznej. Orszak nie jest żałobny – jest głośny, niecierpliwy, nie chce nikogo słuchać ani z nikim rozmawiać. Słychać nerwowy stukot klawiatur i chór podniesionych głosów. Wszyscy powtarzają to samo słowo: Wołyń!
Ten tekst publikujemy w naszym cyklu „Widzę to tak”, w którym od czasu do czasu pozwalamy sobie i autorom zewnętrznym na bardziej publicystyczne podejście do opisu rzeczywistości.
Faktycznie jest w Polsce sporo osób, dla których zbrodnia wołyńska jest ważnym punktem w rodzinnej historii. Sam jestem z takiej rodziny, były w niej realne i pamiętane z imion ofiary. Ale też m.in. z tej szczególnej perspektywy bierze się moja ogromna rezerwa wobec skonstruowanej wokół tego tematu narodowej “pamięci historycznej”. Bo wiem doskonale, że ona nie jest niezmienna, podlega bezustannym wpływom i manipulacjom, a często jest po prostu tworzona na potrzeby polityczne (to truizm: ludzie, którzy piszą na murach “Wołyń pamiętamy” niczego przecież nie pamiętają, bo urodzili się kilkadziesiąt lat później).
Tak czy inaczej, dla osób z „rodzin wołyńskich” sięganie przez Ukraińców po symbolikę związaną z UPA może być bolesne, a w każdym razie trudne do zrozumienia.
(Odnotujmy: jest też niemało polskich obywateli, dla których rodzinna pamięć ma zupełnie inny zwrot: są nią zbrodnie polskich żołnierzy różnych formacji na ukraińskich cywilach. O tych osobach mało kto jednak w naszej debacie publicznej pamięta).
Do tego dochodzi cała potężna machina – Wołyń jako sprawdzony prawicowy wehikuł do legitymizowania antyukraińskich emocji i budowania w ten sposób poparcia. O tym, że rosyjska propaganda wlewa do tego ustrojstwa olej napędowy, nie trzeba nawet przypominać.
W tym kontekście skutki decyzji Zełenskiego nie były trudne do przewidzenia, jego decyzja, by nazwać jedną z jednostek wojskowych imieniem “Bohaterów UPA”, była błędem.
Choć z punktu widzenia wewnętrznej ukraińskiej polityki była to decyzja doskonale zrozumiała – i gdyby nie spektakl furii urządzony przez polskich polityków, mogłaby przejść bez echa.
Dla Ukraińców UPA to przede wszystkim symbol walki z rosyjskim imperializmem, jeden z elementów bardzo różnorodnego panteonu, którym wspierają się przy walce z najeźdźcą.
W wydanym niedawno w Ukrainie “Atlasie rosyjskiego imperializmu i kolonializmu” UPA jest wspomniana właśnie w tej roli – jako heroiczny ruch oporu przed sowietyzacją. Piszę o tym, bo atlasu nie wydali jacyś złowrodzy polakożercy, tylko poważna organizacja społeczeństwa obywatelskiego (Międz…
