O acidente com um ônibus que transportava uma equipe de basquete no Ceará matou seis atletas e um membro da comissão técnica de um time de Juazeiro do Norte.
Todas as vítimas eram da cidade, para onde a delegação retornava após participar de um campeonato em Sobral.
O ônibus transportava 40 passageiros, entre atletas das equipes sub-15 e sub-19 e integrantes da comissão técnica. O veículo capotou às margens da rodovia estadual CE-187, no município de Tauá.
As vítimas são o assistente técnico e estudante de educação física Marcus Miguel, 22, e os jogadores João Paulo Sampaio de Alencar, 18, Henrique Ferreira Bezerra, 17, Luiz José de Morais Neto, 18, Jonatas Samuel dos Santos, 15, Cauã Rodrigues Fratta, 16, e Matheus Henrique Ferreira, 15.
Parte deles integrava a equipe sub-19, campeã do torneio de basquete de Sobral no dia anterior ao acidente.
O Corpo de Bombeiros informou que foi acionado às 3h24 e encontrou múltiplas vítimas feridas e pessoas presas às ferragens.
O prefeito de Juazeiro do Norte, Glêdson Bezerra (Podemos), afirmou que dois dos feridos sofreram fraturas —um no braço e outro na face—, mas não correm risco de morte e seriam transferidos para o hospital regional da cidade.
Os demais feridos não tiveram lesões graves e foram levados de Tauá para Juazeiro do Norte, em um trajeto de cerca de 220 quilômetros, por um micro-ônibus da prefeitura.
A Secretaria da Segurança Pública e Defesa Social (SSPDS) do Ceará informou que o motorista do veículo deixou o hospital e se apresentou posteriormente à delegacia de Tauá.
Ainda não se sabe a causa do acidente. A investigação ficará a cargo da Polícia Civil.
