Ownership
BTA (Bulgarska Telegrafna Agentsiya, the Bulgarian News Agency) is Bulgaria's national news agency, established by a decree of Prince Ferdinand I on 27 January 1898. It is a state-owned, autonomous national news organisation whose director-general is elected by the National Assembly (Parliament), placing it under the state rather than private ownership.
Funding
Financed mainly by a subsidy from the national budget (over BGN 12.2 million / about US$6.8 million in 2023), supplemented by sale of its news services and products and by advertising; commercial revenue is a small fraction of the budget.
Affiliation & stance
Because it is owned by the state, primarily budget-funded, and led by a director-general elected by Parliament, BTA is STATE (the national news agency). It presents itself as an autonomous public agency with a neutral, factual remit, but its parliamentary appointment and reliance on state funding make it a state institution.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has warned of the danger of a new wave of atrocities in the Sudanese city of El Obeid.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Folke TüRK, has warned of a potential new wave of violence in El Obeid, Sudan, which is currently at the center of conflict between Sudanese Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and government troops. The RSF have concentrated their forces around El Obeid, a city heavily damaged by recent fighting. TüRK highlighted that last year, over 6,000 people were killed in three days during the RSF’s capture of another city, El Fasher, with reports of war crimes including mass killings, sexual violence, and torture. He emphasized that this situation is not a training exercise but a serious warning that requires global attention. TüRK called on world leaders to take all necessary steps to prevent future atrocities.

An American gets the maximum amount of recovery time at Wimbledon.
The article discusses the scheduling of the first-round doubles match at Wimbledon involving American tennis player Serena Williams and her sister Venus Williams against the Argentine-Colombian pair Solana Sierra and Camila Osorio. The match was initially scheduled for Thursday and Friday but has been postponed due to Serena's injury during her singles match. Tournament organizer Andy Murray (likely a misstatement, as Andy Murray is a British player, and the correct name might be someone like Ashley Barker or another official) stated they are giving Serena as much time as possible to recover. They ruled out postponing the match to later dates unless necessary for safety or tournament flow. The match is expected to take place on a larger court to accommodate the large crowd attracted by Serena and Venus, who are major stars. Serena returned to professional tennis after four years, but she lost her first singles match and injured her knee. She did not attend a press conference afterward due to health reasons and expressed her commitment to participating in the doubles event. Serena and Venus have won six doubles titles together, including a title in 2016.

Ukraine urged Poland to put emotions aside
Ukraine has proposed steps to normalize relations with Poland, including holding consultations on disputed historical issues, according to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiaga. The proposal comes amid ongoing tensions over Kyiv’s decision to rename a military unit in honor of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). Sybiaga met with his Polish counterpart Radosław Sikorski and emphasized the need to 'leave emotions aside,' suggesting that both nations should focus on resolving past disputes rather than allowing them to fuel continued conflict. Sybiaga also criticized Russia’s apparent satisfaction with the tension between Ukraine and Poland, implying that such posturing benefits Moscow.

Ukraine reports two dead after night attacks by Russia, with the death toll in Kiev rising to 30.
At least two people were killed and eight injured in Russian air strikes on the Sumy region and Kryvyj Rih in Ukraine during the night of Thursday to Friday, according to Ukrainian authorities. This follows a large-scale Russian attack on Kyiv earlier in the week which killed at least 30 people and injured around 100 others. In response to the attacks, Ukraine conducted missile strikes on Belgorod in Russia, causing a fire at an energy facility and killing one woman, according to Russian media. The overnight strike on the city of Romny in the Sumy region hit a residential building, killing two women and injuring a man, reported regional administrator Oleh Hryhorov via Telegram. Another seven people were injured in a missile strike on Kryvyj Rih, according to military city administrator Oleksandr Vilkul. In Kyiv, teams discovered three more dead bodies during the night, bringing the total number of victims to 30, according to Reuters citing Ukrainian health authorities. Kyiv's military administrator Tymur Tkačenko stated that the attack injured 99 people. Moscow claimed the extensive attack was a response to Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, including those carried
Olympiacos (Piraeus) and Ludogorets are close to a deal for Peter Stanić, but there are still important details to be clarified

A secondary earthquake shook Venezuela in the crucial hours of the rescue operation.
A secondary earthquake with magnitude 4.6 struck central and northern regions of Venezuela early Monday morning, according to global agencies. Another weaker tremor was reported in La Guaira, one of the most heavily affected areas by previous earthquakes. No significant damage has been reported from the latest quake. Rescue operations continue in critical hours, with humanitarian organizations emphasizing the first 48 to 72 hours as crucial but noting survivors could still be found later if they have access to food and water. Venezuelan Parliament President Jorge Rodriguez stated efforts are focused on saving lives and setting up shelters for those who lost their homes. Families and volunteers have spent days searching through ruins in La Guaira. Over 2,600 foreign rescuers have arrived, though some local residents complain about the lack of heavy machinery. The government reported at least 33 people rescued over the weekend, including several children. A 21-year-old man was saved after being trapped under rubble for nearly 106 hours. As of the latest reports, the death toll exceeds 1,450, with more than 3,150 injured, and tens of thousands remain missing. Around 12,700 people are无

NATO leaders will reaffirm their "unwavering commitment" to collective defense in Ankara, according to the summit declaration.

Archaeological finds about 5,000 years old were discovered accidentally in a basement in Berlin

New car registrations in Germany increase by almost 6% in the first half of the year
