During the awarding of the Medal of Honor—the highest American military decoration—in the White House, an undignified situation occurred when President Trump was unable to properly tie the blue ribbon on which the medal hangs. K nepříjemné situaci došlo v okamžiku, kdy měl vyznamenání převzít major Nicolas Dockery, veterán z Afghánistánu, jenž v roce 2012 prokázal statečnost, když se nebál proběhnout nepřátelskou palbou, aby ochránil svou jednotku. Podle svědků z místa tím zachránil několik životů.

Trump se mu snažil medaili připnout kolem krku, ale vůbec se mu to nedařilo. Po zhruba padesátisekundovém zápase tedy konce modré stuhy nakonec svázal.

Není příliš jasné, co vlastně stálo za tím, že major Dockery nakonec vypadal, jako by měl na krku spíše obojek, ale objevily se názory, že zapínání zkrátka nebylo funkční. Tomu by napovídala i skutečnost, že před Dockerym Trump dekoroval veterána námořní pěchoty z Vietnamu majora Jamese Caperse, a v tomto případě vše proběhlo bez obtíží.

Nicméně internet se v prvé řadě baví tím, že i Trumpův předchůdce Joe Biden, jenž měl ke konci svého funkčního období již vcelku značné zdravotní problémy, dokázal Medaili cti připnout rychleji a šikovněji.

Mimo jiné se pak také začala objevovat videa vytvořená umělou inteligencí, kde americký prezident připíná Medaili cti sám sobě. To ostatně sám v žertu pronesl, ale podle jeho slov mu bylo řečeno, že to učinit nemůže. A také že nenašel důvod, který by mu to umožnil.
