Door een brand bij een verdeelstation langs het spoor in Woerden rijden er geen treinen tussen Gouda en Utrecht en tussen Woerden en Bodegraven. Dat duurt tot zeker vannacht 02.00 uur, meldt ProRail.
Op deze trajecten stonden drie treinen stil met in totaal zeker 1000 passagiers aan boord, meldt NS. De reizigers zijn geëvacueerd.
Een van de treinen kwam vlak bij station Woerden tot stilstand. De passagiers konden onder begeleiding te voet naar het station. De andere twee treinen zijn naar station Woerden gesleept, waar de passagiers de trein konden verlaten.
Veel expertise nodig
De brand in het verdeelstation is geblust. Het moet nu worden afgekoppeld en hersteld. "Daar is veel expertise bij nodig en het is best een omvangrijke klus", aldus ProRail. Vandaar dat het niet meer gaat lukken om de dienstregeling vandaag weer op te starten.
Over de oorzaak van de brand is nog niets bekend. In een verdeelstation, officieel een onderstation, komt stroom binnen die naar de bovenleidingen wordt gestuurd, waardoor de treinen kunnen rijden.
