G7 will Ukraine-Verhandlungen voranbringen
Mit einem gemeinsamen Essen der Staats- und Regierungschefs hat in Évian am Montagabend der G7-Gipfel begonnen. Nach der Einigung zwischen den USA und dem Iran wollen die großen sieben demokratischen Industriestaaten auch die stockenden Verhandlungen über ein Ende des russischen Angriffskriegs gegen die Ukraine wieder in Gang bringen.

Zu den G7 gehören neben Gastgeber Frankreich, Deutschland, Großbritannien, Italien, Japan , Kanada , die USA und die Europäische Union. An den Beratungen am französischen Ufer des Genfer Sees nimmt auch der ukrainische Präsident Wolodymyr Selenskyj teil. US-Präsident Donald Trump gab sich zum Gipfelauftakt in Évian optimistisch. Er habe am Sonntag sehr gute Gespräche mit Selenskyj und auch Russlands Kremlchef Wladimir Putin geführt. "Ich glaube, da können wir etwas erreichen. Wirklich", so Trump.
Handelsabkommen zwischen EU und USA vor Abschluss
Das Europäische Parlament stimmt an diesem Dienstag über die Umsetzung des vor knapp einem Jahr mit US-Präsident Trump geschlossenen Handelsabkommens ab. Es wird erwartet, dass eine deutliche Mehrheit der Abgeordneten für den Pakt stimmt. Er sieht unter anderem die Abschaffung von EU-Zöllen auf US-Importe sowie pauschale US-Zölle von 15 Prozent vor.
Ein positives Votum würde einen erneuten Zollstreit zwischen den beiden größten Handelspartnern der Welt vorerst abwenden. Allerdings bleiben Unsicherheiten: Die USA wollen ab Ende Juli ein neues Zollsystem einführen.
