– Sveits forblir klare til å legge til rette for disse samtalene. Det relevante forberedende arbeidet i Bürgenstock fortsetter, heter det i en uttalelse fra det sveitsiske utenriksdepartementet.

Vance drar ikke til Sveits

Noen timer tidligere opplyste Det hvite hus at USAs visepresident J.D. Vance ikke kom til å fly til Sveits som planlagt.

– Logistikken rundt disse forhandlingene har aldri vært enkel eller forutsigbar. Per nå vil visepresidenten ikke reise i kveld, sier en talsperson for Det hvite hus sent torsdag.

– Vi ser fram til å starte de tekniske samtalene så raskt som mulig, sier talspersonen videre.

USA og Iran signerte denne uken en intensjonsavtale om å få slutt på krigen. Den legger opp til 60 dager med forhandlinger for å få på plass en endelig og konkret avtale.

Flere angrep

Avtalen kom på plass etter at USA igjen gikk til angrep mot Iran to netter på rad i forrige uke.

De amerikanske angrepene kom etter flere iranske drone- og rakettangrep natten i forveien, mot amerikanske militærbaser i Bahrain, Jordan og Kuwait. En amerikansk talsperson sa da at de ikke hadde fått meldinger om skadede personer eller ødeleggelser.

Iran har i praksis holdt Hormuzstredet stengt Hormuzstredet siden USA og Israel gikk til angrep på landet 28. februar. Det har ført til at prisen på blant annet olje har steget betraktelig.
