Τη δεύτερη μεταγραφή του για τη νέα αγωνιστική σεζόν ανακοίνωσε το μεσημέρι της Παρασκευής (19/06) ο Ολυμπιακός , με τους «ερυθρόλευκους» να γνωστοποιούν την έναρξη της συνεργασίας της με τον Πάμπλο Μαφέο .
Στις πρώτες του δηλώσεις ως παίκτης των Πειραιωτών, ο Ισπανός μπακ εξέφρασε τον ενθουσιασμό του για την υπογραφή του στον σύλλογο, τονίζοντας μεταξύ άλλων πως θα δώσει τα πάντα για να πετύχει ο Ολυμπιακός τους στόχους του.
Αναλυτικά τα όσα δήλωσε:
«Η αλήθεια είναι πως είμαι πολύ ενθουσιασμένος που βρίσκομαι στην καλύτερη ομάδα της Ελλάδας και ανυπομονώ να ξεκινήσω να παίζω και να γνωρίσω τους συμπαίκτες μου και τον κόσμο.
Όταν ενημερώθηκα για την πρόταση του Ολυμπιακού ένιωσα χαρά, ευτυχία και συγκίνηση που μία ομάδα τέτοιων διαστάσεων ενδιαφέρθηκε για εμένα.
Είναι ό,τι εύχεται ένας ποδοσφαιριστής, να έρθει σε έναν μεγάλο σύλλογο, με την υποχρέωση να κερδίζει τίτλους.
Επικοινώνησα με τον Ντάρκο και δεν χρειάστηκε τίποτα παραπάνω. Γνώριζα ήδη το μέγεθος αυτού του συλλόγου.
Πριν από δύο χρόνια βρέθηκα με τον Ορτέγκα στην Εθνική Αργεντινής και μου μίλησε για το πόσο μεγάλος είναι ο σύλλογος αυτός. Δεν χρειάστηκα τίποτα άλλο για να πειστώ, ώστε να πάρω απόφαση.
Ξέρω ότι ο κόσμος του Ολυμπιακού το ζει με έναν τρόπο όμορφο και δένεται με την ομάδα. Αυτό σε κάνει να νιώθεις μεγαλύτερο κίνητρο στο παιχνίδι.
Είναι λοιπόν ένα πολύ σημαντικό στοιχείο του συλλόγου. Είμαι ένας παίκτης που παίζει με ένταση, νομίζω πως αυτό θα αρέσει. Δεν σταματάω να παλεύω και να δίνω το 100%.
Θα δώσω μέχρι την τελευταία σταγόνα ιδρώτα, για να υπερασπιστώ αυτή τη φανέλα. Είμαι πολύ ευτυχισμένος που βρίσκομαι εδώ.
Θέλω οι φίλαθλοί μας να πιστέψουν πως φέτος θα κάνουμε όμορφα πράγματα. Να το δείξουν στην κερκίδα, όπως εμείς θα το δείξουμε στον αγωνιστικό χώρο, διότι όλοι μαζί είμαστε πολύ καλύτεροι».
