The United States expects to begin technical negotiations with Iran this weekend to solidify a ceasefire agreement. Vice President Kamala Harris stated that the 60-day period outlined in the memorandum of understanding with Iran began upon its signing. The initial deadline for finalizing the terms of the peace agreement falls on August 17, but the document allows for an extension if both parties agree. The U.S. has also announced it will lift the maritime blockade on Iranian ports.

Венс заявив, що передбачений угодою-меморандумом з Іраном 60-денний термін для погодження фінальних деталей миру розпочався з моменту її підписання.

"Я б сказав, що 60-денний період офіційно почався сьогодні… Через різницю у часі я би сказав, що технічно вона підписана сьогодні, за іранським часом", – прокоментував віцепрезидент на брифінгу у Білому домі 18 червня.

Відтак початковий термін для погодження фінальних умов мирної угоди випадає на 17 серпня. Документ передбачає можливість продовження цього терміну за згодою сторін.

За його словами, США очікують початку технічних перемовин вже цими вихідними.

Нагадаємо, раніше стало відомо, що США та Іран дистанційно підписали меморандум про взаєморозуміння щодо припинення війни та відкриття Ормузької протоки, і угода вже набула чинності.

Також США повідомили, що знімають морську блокаду з іранських портів.
