Some people get proposed to at fancy restaurants. Others get proposed to on a beach at sunset. And then there is actress Daniah de Villiers, who thought she was heading out for a simple anniversary hike and ended up starring in her own real-life romcom.
The "Die Kantoor" actress recently shared the sweet moment she got engaged to her longtime partner, Joshua Farrer, and, mense , it is enough to make even the most cynical among us believe in love for five minutes.
According to Farrer, pulling off the surprise was not exactly smooth sailing.
There were a few close calls along the way, and because this happened in the Western Cape, the weather also decided to keep everyone on their toes. Grey skies have a funny way of showing up on the most blessed days.
Thankfully, everything came together.
The couple hiked to a scenic picnic spot to celebrate their anniversary.
De Villiers had no idea that a ring was waiting at the end of the trail. In a detail that somehow makes the whole thing even sweeter, the pair packed formal clothes and changed into them on the mountain because, as Farrer explained, it was still a date.
Picture it: mountain views, wind blowing through her hair, a beautiful picnic setup, and a man nervously trying to keep a life-changing secret.
When the big moment finally arrived, she said yes.
The actress, who has charmed audiences in productions such as "Die Kantoor" and "Mia and the White Lion, looked completely overwhelmed with joy.
Not every love story needs fireworks and helicopters. Sometimes all you need is a mountain, a picnic and someone brave enough to carry an engagement ring up a hiking trail without giving the surprise away.
