O Presidente da República saudou esta segunda-feira, 15 de junho, o acordo alcançado entre os EUA e o Irão , "esperando que este sirva para pôr um fim imediato ao conflito, incluindo no Líbano".

António José Seguro espera que a implementação do acordo "traga a paz, segurança e estabilidade indispensáveis ao desenvolvimento de toda a região, e permita o retomar da livre circulação no Estreito de Ormuz".

"Portugal estará sempre do lado da busca de soluções diplomáticas e do respeito pelo direito internacional e agradece os esforços de todas as partes envolvidas na mediação", lê-se no comunicado divulgado no  site da Presidência da República.

Governo espera que acordo seja "ponto de partida de paz duradoura para a região e o mundo"

Também o Governo português, através de Paulo Rangel, ministro dos Negócios Estrangeiros, saudou o acordo. O Executivo liderado por Luís Montenegro espera que o entendimento dos dois países "possa ser ponto de partida de paz duradoura para a região e o mundo".

Na mensagem publicada nas redes sociais, o Governo aproveitou para agradecer "a incansável mediação do Paquistão e os importantes contributos" do Qatar, da Arábia Saudita e da Turquia no processo que levou Irão e EUA a chegarem a um acordo, anunciado no domingo pelo presidente norte-americano, Donald Trump.

Este acordo inclui a reabertura do Estreito de Ormuz e o levantamento do bloqueio marítimo dos EUA aos portos iranianos.

De acordo com o Paquistão, os dois países deverão assinar um memorando de entendimento em Genebra na próxima sexta‑feira, 19 de junho.

"Após intensas negociações, temos o prazer de anunciar que  o acordo de paz entre os Estados Unidos da América e a República Islâmica do Irão foi alcançado. Ambas as partes declararam a cessação imediata e permanente das operações militares em todas as frentes, incluindo no Líbano ", escreveu o primeiro-ministro paquistanês Shebaz Sharif no X.

Segundo Donald Trump, "este grande acordo trará paz e segurança a toda a região". "Muitos presidentes tentaram fazer a paz com o Irão, e todos falharam antes de mim. Os líderes da região encontraram, pela primeira vez, um presidente capaz de os ajudar a alcançar uma paz verdadeira", sublinhou numa mensagem divulgada na rede social Truth Social.

"Com a abertura do estreito [de Ormuz] após a assinatura do acordo na sexta-feira, para efeitos de remoção de minas, o petróleo voltará a fluir em ambos os lados para a região e para o mundo!", prometeu o presidente norte-americano.
