Ukrainian Defense Minister Reuben Kuleba stated that Russian forces attacked two civilian ships in the Black Sea, targeting commercial vessels and maritime infrastructure crucial for humanitarian and export routes. Podle Kuleby se jedná o další důkaz, že Rusové vedou válku proti svobodě plavby, mezinárodního obchodu a globální potravinové bezpečnosti. „V hledáčku jsou civilní posádky, obchodní lodě a námořní infrastruktura, která zajišťuje fungování humanitárních a exportních tras,“ konstatoval v  příspěvku .

Na obě lodi Rusové zaútočili ve čtvrtek večer. Zasáhli loď plující pod panamskou vlajkou, na jejíž palubě zemřel jeden člen posádky, další dva námořníci byli zraněni. Zaútočili také na loď s vlajkou státu Svatý Kryštof a Nevis, kde tři členové posádky utrpěli lehká zranění, doplnil Kuleba.

Šéf vojenské správy Oděské oblasti Oleh Kiper na Telegramu uvedl, že obě plavidla již obnovila plavbu a že přístavní infrastruktura v oblasti „funguje s ohledem na bezpečnostní situaci“.

Rusové drony zasahují civilní plavidla v Černém moři pravidelně. Stalo se tak i v noci na 10. června, kdy zasáhli loď plující pod vlajkou Panamy a Barbadosu. Na jedné z lodí tehdy propukl požár, který se posádce podařilo zlikvidovat. Následně pokračovaly v plavbě. Jindy útočili na přístavní města Oděsa či Čornomorsk, kde také došlo k zásahu civilních lodí.
