Podle analýzy videí telegramového kanálu Astra došlo k výbuchu bezprostředně po odpálení střely a jejím následném dopadu na areál zařízení. Na publikovaných záběrech je také viditelná kondenzační stopa, která umožňuje určit dráhu letu střely.
Video bylo natočeno z obytného domu ve městě Kotelniki na jihovýchodním předměstí Moskvy, přiblížil server The New Voice of Ukraine . Střela byla pravděpodobně vypálena ze systému protivzdušné obrany Pancir ze severovýchodního směru.
