After the fire in Ptuj, a family of five claims that "tomorrow they have nowhere to go".

They're on Facebook asking for at least a temporary place.

The Civil Protection Commander Ptuj replies that they have been provided with temporary accommodation and that the costs are covered by the municipality.

After a massive fire that broke out yesterday on Ormoška cesta in Ptuj, a family of five, who lost their roof over their heads and everything they had in the fire, posted on Facebook that they are currently staying in another hostel, but that they are in serious trouble because they are without a long-term solution. "Tomorrow we have nowhere to go", they wrote in the post, adding that they are looking for at least a temporary apartment.

As a reminder, homes destroyed in the fire

As we reported yesterday, shortly after 12:00 p.m., a fire broke out in a building on Ormosky Road near the Supernova shopping center, engulfing the roof of an older building that contained three apartments.

Initial reports indicate that the fire has engulfed the entire building and burned three renovated apartments.

According to the head of the intervention Primož Korošak from PGD Ptuj, extinguishing the fire was difficult, as it was difficult to access and covered with tin roof. Material damage was estimated at about 750 thousand euros, and the cause of the fire is still being investigated by the police.

The bird.

Other countries

A large fire broke out over an area of thick smoke.

Now the family has posted on Facebook that, apart from the good people, no one has helped them so far from the officials, and they have also written that they were told twice by the Civil Protection of Ptuj that they must find their own way.

So the family asks for help in finding at least temporary housing.

The head of civil defense just called.

Screenshot from Facebook

Korošak, the Civil Protection Commander of the Municipality of Ptuj, also commented on the publication, saying that he understood the family's plight, but that the family was not left without a place to live. According to him, the family was offered temporary accommodation immediately after the incident, but the costs were fully covered by the Municipality of Ptuj: "They were initially accommodated at Tonet, but are currently staying at Hostel Sonce, as there are no other accommodation capacities requested. The municipality will continue to ensure that they have a roof over their heads and will cover the costs of their stay until a suitable permanent solution or a new apartment is found for them".

Unfortunately, a permanent housing solution cannot be guaranteed overnight,' he stressed, adding that the Municipality of Ptuj is helping within its means.

At the same time, he invited all those who could help with a more permanent solution to offer the family an apartment. "We also ask if anyone has a more permanent solution to help with giving the family an apartment", wrote Korošak, adding that he is in personal contact with the family and available for communication.

We've already contacted the family for further clarification.

This Decision shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
