Οι τελικοί του ελληνικού πρωταθλήματος μπάσκετ δεν είναι ακριβώς «σωτηρία της ψυχής» , με όσα συμβαίνουν εκτός παρκέ, ωστόσο στο παρκέ οι «σωτήρες» δεν έχουν στερέψει. Τουλάχιστον για την ομάδα που από το βράδυ της Δευτέρας (8/6) βρίσκεται στο 2-1 στη σειρά και απέχει μία νίκη από την κατάκτηση της GBL. Ο Ολυμπιακός νίκησε τον Παναθηναϊκό και έχει δύο ευκαιρίες μπροστά του για το repeat. Η πρώτη, την Τετάρτη στο ΟΑΚΑ. Η δεύτερη, αν του χρειαστεί, στην αλώβητη στην Ελλάδα έδρα του το επόμενο Σάββατο.
Ο τρίτος τελικός έμοιαζε διαφορετικός από τους προηγούμενους. Η πρεμιέρα έδειχνε ψάξιμο και από τους δύο «αιώνιους». Ο Αμερικανός συνάντησε τον καλό φίλο του και γκαρντ του Ολυμπιακού, Κόρι Τζόσεφ και ο Σέρβος κάθισε πλάι στον σταρ του τένις, Νόβακ Τζόκοβιτς.
Οι αντιθέσεις του αρχικού 1-1 έδωσαν τη θέση τους σε μία κοινή και όχι συνηθισμένη ευστοχία για την κρισιμότητα της αναμέτρησης και της χρονικής συνθήκης, με τους περισσότερους παίκτες να δείχνουν ότι μένουν από «βενζίνη», στο φινάλε μίας απαιτητικής σεζόν. Ο Σάσα Βεζένκοφ είναι ο πολυτιμότερος παίκτης της φετινής Ευρωλίγκας, ο (απών από τη σειρά έως τώρα, λόγω τραυματισμού) Τάιλερ Ντόρσεϊ ήταν η αποκάλυψη της χρονιάς για τους πρωταθλητές Ευρώπης, ωστόσο δεν είναι καθόλου λίγοι εκείνοι που πιστεύουν ότι ο καλύτερος παίκτης στο «κόκκινο» ρόστερ είναι ο Εβάν Φουρνιέ . Το βιογραφικό, οι παραστάσεις, τα δώδεκα χρόνια (με 704 ματς, τα 504 ως βασικός) στο ΝΒΑ και οι μέσο όρο 13,6 π. στις ΗΠΑ, αλλά και τα έξι μετάλλια με την Εθνική Γαλλίας (δύο ασημένια Ολυμπιακά, δύο χάλκινα στο Παγκόσμιο και από μία 2η και 3η θέση σε Ευρωμπάσκετ) μάλλον συνθέτουν μία ισχυρή εκστρατεία για το στάτους του.
Μονάχα που ο Γάλλος δεν ενδιαφέρεται για όσα προηγήθηκαν. Φέτος αποδέχθηκε τον ρόλο του 6 ου παίκτη , όμως μετά την εξαιρετική σειρά των playoffs της Ευρωλίγκας με τη Μονακό (μ.ό. 17 π.) και τους 20 π. στον τελικό με τη Ρεάλ , ο 33χρονος γκαρντ πήρε ρόλο βασικού στους τελικούς με τον Παναθηναϊκό και είναι εκείνος που καθορίζει την εξέλιξή τους. Ο Φουρνιέ σκόραρε 28 π. με 3/6 δίπ., 6/10 τρίπ., 4/6 βολ. σε 37΄ και πλέον μετρά 21 π. ανά αγώνα στη σειρά. Εκτός από το επιθετικό ένστικτό του, ήταν εξαιρετικός και στη δημιουργία, με οκτώ ασίστ (σύνολο 20 στα τρία ματς) και πρόσφερε συνολικά τους 45 από τους 102 π. της ομάδας του.
Η απουσία του Ντόρσεϊ και οι ενοχλήσεις του Παπανικολάου στη μέση υποχρέωσαν τον κόουτς Μπαρτζώκα να περιορίσει το rotation του σε… 8,5 παίκτες. Εκτός του «Παπ» δεν έπαιξαν οι Λαρεντζάκης και Νετζήπογλου και ο Ταϊρίκ Τζόουνς πάτησε παρκέ για 12΄, λόγω της κυριαρχικής εμφάνισης του Μιλουτίνοφ , με 17 π. (8/8 δίπ.) σε 28΄. Ο προπονητής των νικητών πόνταρε στη βασική πεντάδα του, η οποία πρόσφερε τους 92 από τους 102 π. του Ολυμπιακού. Ο Βεζένκοφ «εμφανίστηκε» στη σειρά με 24 π. , σχεδόν όσους (16 και 9 π.) είχε μαζί στα δύο πρώτα ντέρμπι, ο Ουόρντ επέστρεψε στη 12άδα με 12 π. σε 34΄ και ο Ουόκαπ των 2/14 σουτ σε πρώτο και δεύτερο τελικό, είχε 11 π. και το τρίποντο στο 39΄ για το 91-84 , που έκρινε το παιχνίδι, όσο κυνηγούσε στην άμυνα τον Ναν. Ο Ολυμπιακός των συνολικά 33 ασίστ και 30 λαθών στα δύο πρώτα παιχνίδια είχε καλύτερη δημιουργία ( 23 ασ. και δέκα λάθη ) και +11 (19-8) σε πόντους από επιθετικά ριμπάουντ, κερδίζοντας και τις «αερομαχίες» (34-23).
