Am Montag soll das Urteil im Prozess gegen Marius Borg Høiby verkündet werden. Dem ältesten Sohn von Norwegens Kronprinzessin Mette-Marit, den sie mit in die Ehe mit Thronfolger Haakon brachte, wird unter anderem Vergewaltigung vorgeworfen. Mette-Marit, umfasst insgesamt 40 Punkte. Vier Frauen soll der 29-Jährige vergewaltigt haben, während diese schliefen, teilweise soll er die Taten gefilmt haben. Zwei Ex-Freundinnen werfen ihm außerdem häusliche Gewalt vor. Hinzu kommen Sachbeschädigung, Bedrohung sowie Drogen-
und Verkehrsdelikte.

Wie verlief der Prozess?
Die Vergewaltigungsvorwürfe stritt Høiby vor Gericht ab . Der Sex mit den Frauen sei einvernehmlich gewesen. Die Aussagen der mutmaßlichen Opfer widersprechen dem. Eine Frau sagte aus, dass Høiby nach mehrmaligem einvernehmlichem Sex in sie eingedrungen sei, als sie geschlafen hatte. »Ich erinnere mich, wie ich aufgewacht bin und einen kleinen Schock bekommen habe«, sagte sie vor Gericht. Danach sei sie »wie gelähmt« gewesen.
Eine andere Frau soll Høiby während einer Party in Schloss Skaugum, der Residenz des Kronprinzenpaars, missbraucht haben. Während sie schlief, soll er mit einem Finger in sie eingedrungen sein. Die Frau sagte vor Gericht aus, dass die beiden zuvor kurz Sex auf einer Toilette gehabt hätten. Danach könne sie sich an nichts mehr erinnern. Sie äußerte den Verdacht, dass sie eventuell Drogen eingeflößt bekommen haben könnte.
Andere Vorwürfe räumte Høiby teilweise ein. Er gab etwa schon vor Prozessbeginn zu, unter Alkohol- und Kokaineinfluss gegenüber seiner damaligen Freundin
gewalttätig geworden zu sein und Dinge in ihrer Wohnung zerstört zu
haben. Vor Gericht sagte er, dass er darunter leide, hauptsächlich als Sohn seiner Mutter bekannt zu sein. »Deshalb hatte ich ein extrem hohes Bedürfnis nach Anerkennung. Mein
ganzes Leben lang. Und das hat sich in viel Sex, viel Drogen und viel
Alkohol niedergeschlagen.«

Wie blickt die norwegische Öffentlichkeit auf die aktuellen Skandale?
Nicht nur der Prozess gegen Marius Borg Høiby erschüttert derzeit das norwegische Königshaus. Durch die Veröffentlichung der Epstein-Files kam heraus, dass Kronprinzessin Mette-Marit mit Jeffrey Epstein befreundet war. Sie habe nicht gewusst, dass dieser ein Sexualverbrecher war, sagte die Prinzessin in einem Interview, sie habe sich »manipulieren und täuschen« lassen .
Vergewaltigungsprozess, Drogen, Epstein-Freundschaft – das geht nicht spurlos vorbei am norwegischen Königshaus. Im Februar 2026 fiel die Zustimmung für das Königshaus in einer Umfrage des öffentlich-rechtlichen Rundfunks NRK auf ein Rekordtief von 60 Prozent. Im September 2025 hatte sie noch 73 Prozent betragen. Mittlerweile haben sich die Werte wieder leicht erholt, auf 64 Prozent Zustimmung im Mai.
Kurz vor der Abschaffung steht die Monarchie in Norwegen allerdings offenbar nicht. Erst im Februar wurde im Parlament ein Antrag, die Staatsform in eine Republik zu ändern, mit deutlicher Mehrheit abgelehnt. Von 169 Abgeordneten stimmten nur 26 dafür, 141 dagegen.

Was sagt ein norwegischer Adelsexperte zum Fall Høiby und zur Situation der Familie?
Trotz der schwankenden Beliebtheitswerte glaubt Ole-Jørgen Schulsrud-Hansen nicht daran, dass die Monarchie in Norwegen gefährdet ist.
