De verkrachting zou hebben plaatsgevonden in maart dat jaar in Boulogne-Billancourt nadat Hakimi en de vrouw elkaar hadden leren kennen op Instagram. Een paar dagen na hun samenzijn deed zij aangifte bij de politie van verkrachting.
De 27-jarige speler van Paris Saint-Germain heeft de aantijgingen altijd ontkend. Omdat de zaak al enkele jaren speelt, zegt Hakimi uit te kijken naar het proces.
Voldoende aanknopingspunten
Hakimi ziet het als een kans om zijn kant van het verhaal te doen, schrijft hij op X. "Soms heb ik het gevoel dat ik een makkelijk doelwit ben geworden. Ik heb vanaf dag één op dit proces gewacht. En nu kijk ik ernaar uit. Eindelijk zal ik mijn stem kunnen laten horen."
Hakimi en zijn advocaten hadden in mei nog om seponering van de zaak gevraagd. Het Hof in Versailles oordeelde vandaag desondanks dat er voldoende aanknopingspunten zijn om de meervoudig winnaar van de Champions League te vervolgen.
In zijn bericht op X schrijft Hakimi over dit besluit. "Ik dacht dat waardigheid, geduld en vertrouwen in het rechtssysteem ervoor zouden zorgen dat de juiste beslissingen genomen zouden worden."
Duel tegen Schotland
De advocaat van de vrouw zegt tegen persbureau AP dat het besluit van het hof zijn cliënt "een gevoel van opluchting en hoop geeft na jarenlang door het slijk te zijn gehaald door de verdediging van Achraf Hakimi".
Het is nog niet duidelijk wanneer het proces begint.
