Nødetatene ble tilkalt natt til onsdag etter at en person som badet havnet under vann.
Det var to venner på fisketur, som etter hvert begynte å bade. På et tidspunkt forsvant den ene personen under vann og nødetatene ble varslet.
– Han blir hentet på land og det blir forsøkt gjenoppliving, men uten at det lykkes, forteller Haave.
– Så han blir erklært død på stedet.
Mannen i 20-åra ble erklært død på stedet natt til onsdag.
Hentet opp av dykkere
– Politiet var først på stedet, og en politibetjent kledde av seg og svømte ut for å lete etter den savnede personen, sier operasjonsleder Christopher James White.
Klokken 02.52 ble den savnede lokalisert av dykkere fra brannvesenet. Det ble startet hjerte- og lungeredning på stedet.
Politiet har tatt avhør av den andre personen som badet og nødetatene på stedet.
– Vi ser på dette som en tragisk badeulykke der to venner har vært ute og badet, forteller Haave.
Hun forteller at mannen som mistet vennen sin blir ivaretatt.
– Han har fått tilbud om oppfølging knyttet til kommunens kriseteam.
