Croatian tennis player Mate Pavić and his partner Marcelo Arevalo from El Salvador have advanced to the semifinals of the ATP tournament at London's Queen’s Club. Hrvatski tenisač Marin Čilić svoj je nastup na ovogodišnjem izdanju ATP turnira u londonskom Queen's Clubu okončao već u 1. kolu, bolji od njega bio je Francuz Ugo Humbert sa 7-5, 6-3 nakon sat i 21 minute igre.

Čilić, koji je u Queen'su osvojio dva od svojih 21 ATP naslova, 2012. i 2018. godine, te još dva puta (2013. i 2017.) igrao finale, nije iskoristio svoj bolji ulazak u dvoboj da bi skupo platio veliki pad u igri krajem prvog i početkom drugog seta.

U trećem gemu prvog seta Čilić je stigao do prve "break-lopte" u susretu, ali promašio je "passing" da bi kod rezultata 3-3 propustio još dvije vezane "break-lopte". Potom se Humbert ustabilio na svom početnom udarcu dok je Čilić u najgorem trenutku upao u krizu.

Kada je kod rezultata 5-6 u prvoj dionici servirao za ulazak u "tie-break" Čilić je odigrao izuzetno loš gem i praktički poklonio Humbertu set da bi početkom drugog seta još jednom pokleknuo na svom početnom udarcu, a taj zaostatak nije uspio nadoknaditi do kraja dvoboja.
