Хърватката Доан Векич спечели турнира на трева в "Куинс" в Лондон.
Във финала олимпийската вицешампионка победи британската тенис звезда Ема Ръдукану с 6:0, 7:6(6) за час и 48 минути игра.
Векич влезе в основната схема като "щастлива губеща", след като загуби във финалния кръг на квалификациите от Анна Блинкова. Тя обаче получи втори шанс за участие в надпреварата, който използва по най-добрия начин, за да завоюва петата титла в кариерата си.
В първия сет на финала Векич не даде никакви шансове на Ръдукану и успя да го вземе само за 28 минути.
Във втория сет обаче ситуацията на корта се промени и британката бързо успя да поведе с 5:2 гейма с два пробива. Тогава обаче тя получи физически проблем, който позволи на Векич да вземе четири поредни гейма и да достигне до три мачбола на подаване на бившата шампионка от Откритото първенство на САЩ.
