Tausende haben am Sonntag gegen den „Imperialismus“ der G7-Wirtschaftsmächte und Donald Trump demonstriert. Die Proteste mussten im benachbarten Genf stattfinden.

Rund 25.000 Menschen haben laut Angabe des Mediums Tribune de Genève am Sonntag in Genf gegen das G7-Treffen demonstriert. Die dominierende Farbe an der „No G7“-Kundgebung am Sonntag war nicht Rot, sondern ein feministisches Violett. Denn der 14. Juni ist in der Schweiz seit 2019 der Tag der „Grève feministe“ (Frauenstreiktag). Darum erschienen zahlreiche Frauen und auch einige Männer mit Fahnen, Spruchbändern oder Kleidern in violett.

Zur „Koalition No G7“ gegen den Gipfel der „Imperialisten“ der Gruppe der Sieben (G7), die ab Montag in Evian tagen, gehören neben feministischen Organisationen mehr als 50 Gruppierungen, Parteien, Bürgerinitiativen und Gewerkschaften aus der Schweiz und Frankreich, die von den Medien zur radikalen Linken gezählt werden.

Eindringlich warnten die Genfer die lokalen Medien und die Behörden seit Tagen vor möglichen gewaltsamen Ausschreitungen und Plünderungen. Sie beriefen sich dabei auf die Anti-G7-Demonstration von 2003, bei der es zu Zusammenstößen und Sachschaden in der Innenstadt von Genf und Lausanne gekommen war. Vorsorglich hatten darum dieses Mal die Banken, Geschäfte und öffentliche Gebäude wie beispielsweise die Steuerverwaltung Türen und Schaufenster gegen allfällige Angriffe mit Holzbrettern verbarrikadiert.

Zunächst hatten die schweizerischen Behörden sogar erwogen, die Kundgebung aufgrund der damaligen Vorfälle kurzerhand zu verbieten. Zuletzt aber wurde eine Genehmigung für einen Marsch auf einer reduzierten Strecke erteilt.

Großer Polizeieinsatz

Und die Ordnungskräfte wollten ihrerseits mit einem besonders massiven Aufgebot von Polizisten und 4000 Militärs sowie zahlreichen präventiven Personenkontrollen jede Lust an Randale im Keime ersticken. Die Genfer Polizei gab an, sie habe vor der Demonstration zahlreiche „gefährliche“ Gegenstände konfisziert. Mitglieder einer französischen Antifa-Gruppe wurden an der Grenze abgewiesen. Dennoch ging es nicht ganz ohne Gewalt: Die Fassaden von zwei Banken wurden beschädigt und mindestens zwei PKWs in Brand gesteckt. Am Ende des Nachmittags stieg die Spannung zwischen Demonstranten und der Polizei.

In Evian selber war hingegen jegliche Protestaktion ausgeschlossen. In diesem historischen Thermalkurort hatte es mehr als doppelt so viele Ordnungskräfte (rund 16.000) wie Einwohner (9.200). Nicht zuletzt wegen der Ankunft von US-Präsident Donald Trump am Montag befand sich das sonst so ruhige Städtchen schon während des Wochenendes in einem hektischen Belagerungszustand.

Der Protest gegen die in Evian tagenden Wirtschaftsgroßmächte beschränkte sich nicht auf die Großkundgebung in Genf. Schon am Samstag hatten in Lausanne, auf dem gegenüberliegenden Ufer des Lac Léman (Genfersees) mehr als 10.000 Menschen gegen diese G7-Diskussionen demonstriert, bei denen eine Handvoll Politiker unter sich über das Schicksal der restlichen Welt absprechen.

Alternative zu G7

In Genf fand außerdem ein Gegengipfel mit zahlreichen Workshops statt, in denen über solidarische antikapitalistische, feministische und ökologische Alternativen debattiert wurde. Mitten auf dem See dümpelte, eng überwacht von Patrouillenbooten, eine kleine „Gaza-Flotte“ von etwa 20 Segeljachten aus Solidarität mit der von Israel bombardierten palästinensischen Bevölkerung.
