Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the signing of Thabo Moloisane ahead of the new season, adding a Soweto-born defender with growing experience at both domestic and continental level.

Born in Meadowlands, Soweto, Moloisane returns to familiar footballing roots as he joins the Glamour Boys from Stellenbosch FC, where he established himself as one of the most reliable defenders in the league.

During his time in the Western Cape, he made an impressive 115 appearances over three seasons, a reflection of his consistency, fitness and importance to the team’s defensive structure.

Primarily operating as a centre-back, Moloisane developed a reputation for disciplined positioning, strong aerial presence and calm distribution from the back — attributes that have made him one of the more dependable defensive figures outside the traditional “big three” clubs.

His performances did not go unnoticed at national level, earning him two call-ups to the South African senior squad, a recognition of his steady rise and defensive maturity.

Beyond domestic football, Moloisane also brings valuable continental experience, having featured in CAF Confederation Cup competition.

That exposure to African opposition, different tactical approaches and high-pressure away fixtures is expected to be a major asset for Chiefs as they prepare for another return to continental football.

Experience in CAF competitions has often been highlighted as a missing ingredient in recent Chiefs squads, particularly in moments where game management and defensive organisation are tested under intense away conditions.

Moloisane’s arrival is therefore seen as a strategic addition rather than just squad depth.

He is expected to link up with the Amakhosi squad when pre-season training resumes, giving the technical team an early opportunity to integrate him into their defensive plans ahead of the new campaign.

His arrival adds further competition in central defence and offers tactical flexibility, with the ability to slot into different defensive setups depending on opposition and match demands.

The club has welcomed him warmly, expressing confidence that his blend of youth, experience and local pedigree will strengthen the squad.

As Chiefs continue shaping their squad for the season ahead, Moloisane’s signing reflects a clear focus on players with both domestic reliability and continental awareness — qualities that will be vital as Amakhosi aim to compete on multiple fronts once again.
