Hajduk has decided to field a team in the Third Croatian Football League (3. HNL) due to changes in its leadership structure. As part of this move, 35-year-old defender Tomislav Mrčela, who played last season for Kamen from Podbablj, will join Hajduk. HAJDUK je odlučio osnažiti svoju drugu momčad, koja će se od iduće sezone natjecati u 3. NL Jug, iskusnim obrambenim igračem. Na Poljud stiže 35-godišnji stoper Tomislav Mrčela, koji je proteklu sezonu proveo upravo u tom rangu natjecanja, igrajući za Kamen iz Podbablja.

Nakon brojnih promjena u upravljačkoj strukturi, splitski klub je odustao od ideje da mu druga momčad igra u Prvoj NL, što će iduće sezone biti slučaj s Dinamom. Umjesto toga, Hajdukova B momčad igrat će u 3. NL Jug. Plan je da okosnicu momčadi čine mladi igrači, kojima će podršku pružati nekoliko starijih i iskusnijih nogometaša, a Mrčela se uklapa u taj koncept.
Tomislav Mrčela, rođeni Australac, u svojoj je karijeri već nastupao u Hrvatskoj. Svojevremeno je bio član Lokomotive, a prije dvije godine igrao je i za Rudeš. Prošlog ljeta vratio se u Australiju i potpisao za Perth Glory, da bi se na zimu kao slobodan igrač vratio u Hrvatsku i priključio trećeligašu Kamenu.
