Un purtător de cuvânt al Casei Albe a explicat că decizia are la bază aspecte logistice nerezolvate, în contextul pregătirii următoarei etape a negocierilor.

Oficialii americani au subliniat că  echipa de negociere  este pregătită să se deplaseze imediat ce programul va permite desfășurarea discuțiilor tehnice.

„În acest moment, vicepreședintele nu pleacă în această seară. Vom reveni cu detalii imediat ce există o actualizare clară privind pașii următori. Așteptăm începerea discuțiilor tehnice cât mai curând posibil” , a transmis Casa Albă, potrivit  CNN.

JD Vance urma să fie prezent la ceremonia de semnare a memorandumului, programată pentru vineri în Elveția.

El declarase anterior că intenționează să participe personal, însă a recunoscut că momentul exact al finalizării înțelegerii rămâne flexibil.

În planul actual,  negocierile tehnice pentru definitivarea acordului  sunt așteptate să înceapă în acest weekend, vicepreședintele afirmând că își propune să conducă echipa americană de negociere.

Documentul aflat în discuție ar urma să prevadă oprirea atacurilor din regiune și ar putea contribui la redeschiderea Strâmtoarea Ormuz, unul dintre cele mai importante puncte de tranzit energetic la nivel global.
