Fire at Bruco waste treatment plant in Wijnegem: a lot of smoke in the neighbourhood

Een blikseminslag heeft gisteravond brand veroorzaakt in Ledeberg (Gent). Het vuur sloeg even over naar een aanpalende woning, maar de brandweer kreeg de branden in beide huizen snel onder controle.

Rond 22.15 uur kregen de hulpdiensten een oproep voor een brand in de Willem Blanckestraat. "Na een blikseminslag was brand ontstaan op de bovenste verdieping van een huis, in het dak", zegt de Gentse politie. "De brand was ook overgeslagen op het huis ernaast."

"De brandweer kreeg de branden in beide huizen snel onder controle. De omgeving is wel nog een tijdlang afgesloten gebleven, omdat de huizen nog goed verlucht moesten kunnen worden. De brandweer is dus nog een hele tijd ter plaatse gebleven."

Niemand raakte gewond bij de beide branden.
