Þingsályktunartillaga vegna hátíðahalda í tilefni af 1100 ára afmæli Alþingis árið 2030 var samþykkt á Alþingi í dag.
Tillagan felur í sér að skipuð verður fimm manna framkvæmdanefnd sem undirbýr hátíðahöldin og ræður framkvæmdastjóra sem taka mun til starfa árið 2029 og starfa í um tvö ár.
Allir þingmenn sem viðstaddir voru atkvæðagreiðsluna kusu með tillögunni.
Gestir fleiri en íbúar Reykjavíkur
Alþingi tók til starfa á Þingvöllum árið 930 og líður því senn að því að stofnunin fagni 1100 ára afmæli sínu.
1000 ára afmæli Alþingis var minnst á Þingvöllum dagana 26.-28. júní árið 1930 og voru hátíðargestir hið minnsta 30.000 talsins en til viðmiðunar voru íbúar Reykjavíkur þá ekki nema um 28.000. Talsverður fjöldi erlendra gesta sótti hátíðina og hróður hennar barst víða.

Í tilefni hátíðarinnar árið 1930 var ráðist í töluverða innviðauppbyggingu en meðal annars var þá lagður nýr vegur til Þingvalla um Mofellsdal og Mosfellsheiði, brýr voru byggðar og nýr Þingvallabær var reistur.
Einnig voru settir upp miklir timburpallar á hátíðarsvæðinu og tjaldbúðir fyrir hátíðargesti risu á Leirunum og efri völlunum.
Ekki skipuð þingmönnum
Framkvæmdanefndin sem nú hefur verið samþykkt að skipa vegna hátíðahalda árið 2030 verður skipuð af forsætisnefnd og skulu nefndarmenn hennar hafa reynslu og þekkingu á fræðslu og miðlun, rannsóknum, sagnfræði og hlutverki starfsemi Alþingis.
Rætt var hvort framkvæmdanefndin, sem taka mun til starfa í haust, ætti að vera skipuð fulltrúum þingflokka en horfið var frá þeirri hugmynd. Nefndin mun í fyrstu njóta aðstoðar skrifstofu Alþingis en síðar mun framkvæmdastjóri vera skipaður.
Í tillögunni er gert ráð fyrir því að framkvæmdanefndin njóti nokkurs frjálsræðis við mótun hugmynda um hvernig tímamótanna verði minnst af hálfu Alþingis. Kemur fram í tillögunni að árið 2030 marki einnig þau tímamót að 50 ár séu liðin frá því að Vigdís Finnbogadóttir varð forseti og þá einnig 100 ára afmæli hennar. Væri tækifæri til þess að flétta þau tímamót inn í hátíðahöldin.
Áætlað er að kostnaður við greiðslu þóknunar framkvæmdanefndar, ráðning framkvæmdastjóra og laun hans verði 52 milljónir króna. Auk þess er gert ráð fyrir að afmörkuð verði sérstök fjárveiting, samtals 750 milljónir króna, fyrir útgjöldum í tengslum við viðburði og verkefni.
