Veștea úgy fogalmazott, hogy az államfő meghozta a döntését, és a bonyolult helyzet ellenére meggyőződése, hogy képes lesz kezelni a kihívásokat. A kijelölt kormányfő arra is emlékeztetett, hogy nem szeretné, ha megismétlődnének az 1996-os események, amikor a párt darabokra hullott. Meggyőződése szerint a jelenlegi helyzetet higgadtsággal és politikai érettséggel kell kezelni. Mint mondta, nem helyes állandó nyomásgyakorlással és fenyegetésekkel fegyelmet teremteni. A kijelölt miniszterelnök arról is beszámolt, hogy egy előzetes számítás alapján kabinetje megszerezheti a beiktatáshoz szükséges 233 parlamenti szavazatot. Elmondása szerint Nicusor Dan államfő, valamint Eugen Tomac, aki végül visszalépett a miniszterelnök-jelöltségtől hasonló következtetésre jutott. Hozzátette, hogy Tomac esetében éppen a PNL voksai hiányoztak.
