L'actionnaire majoritaire de HT est la Deutsche Telekom d'Allemagne, qui détient environ 53-54% de la société; l'État croate et les investisseurs institutionnels détiennent les actions restantes. Le portail est donc la propriété d'un groupe de télécommunications coté en bourse, détenu à majorité par des étrangers, plutôt que d'une famille de médias ou d'un acteur politique.

Financé commercialement par la publicité en ligne et par des subventions croisées de sa société mère Hrvatski Telekom; il ne s'agit pas d'un produit d'abonnement payant et ne reçoit aucun budget partiel ou direct des médias de l'État.
