“Oeeeeeee, oeoeoeeeeeeeee. Oeeeeeee. Oeeeeeee”. Son las siete y media de la tarde en el estadio del Real Madrid. Las gradas están repletas: unas 70.000 personas cantan, aplauden con fuerza y corean genuinamente el famoso cántico sin letra, que suele oírse en las competiciones deportivas. Pero esta vez no se celebra un partido de fútbol. Tampoco la última victoria de Florentino Pérez, que finalmente seguirá al frente del club. El que acaba de salir al campo es Robert Prevost, el papa León XIV. El público le recibe como a una auténtica superestrella, a la que los artistas invitados (como David Bustamante o Íñigo Quintero) le dedicaron sus canciones dentro de un estadio que, de manera excepcional, volvía a dar conciertos. “Hoy la Iglesia ha echo un golazo para siempre”, bromeó el pontífice.

En un momento, León XIV abandonó el sillón blanco que coronaba el escenario poligonal, dividido en dos secciones diferenciadas, para dirigirse a la comunidad diocesana de Madrid. Con la broma del gol católico, las risas inundaron por unos segundos el estadio de fútbol, pero se cortaron rápidamente cuando el pontífice empezó a hablar.
“Gracias al arzobispo [José Cobo] por haber introducido la parábola del canto”, apuntó sobre los conciertos, que esa tarde entretuvieron a decenas de miles de espectadores durante la ofrenda floral en La Almudena. El papa reconoció en las canciones, muy habituales para la liturgia religiosa, otra forma de “crear comunidad” entre las “distintas almas” que ha ido conociendo en su visita. Considera a España como un pueblo que “ama la música, la danza y el estar juntos”, pero que también conoce la “frustración y la desconfianza”. Y por eso ha dirigido un mensaje a su comunidad diocesana, protagonista de aquel encuentro.

Pero también destino de millones de visitantes y de hermanos y hermanas, en busca de nuevas oportunidades”, concluyó, antes de evocar la historia bíblica de Nehemías: “Él involucró a una comunidad entera para reconstruir los muros de Jerusalén”. Una alegoría que llama a reconocer al otro y “no temer” a la diversidad de voces, procedencias o sensibilidades. Le sirve, al final, para lanzar otra advertencia: “Huid de las personas que cantan siempre la misma melodía”.
