Róbert Þór er tólf ára í dag.

Þjóðhátíðardagurinn er sérstakur fyrir flestalla landsmenn. Hann er þó einstaklega sérstakur fyrir Róbert Þór Nelson þar sem hann á afmæli sama dag.
Í ár fagnar hann tólf árum.
Foreldrar Róberts, þau Lee Nelson og Alda Brynja Birgisdóttir, stofnuðu Sirkus Íslands saman árið 2006. Það verður því að teljast ótrúleg tilviljun að Róbert hafi fæðst á annasamasta degi foreldra sinna.
Þrjár sýningar á Snæfellsnesi
„Þetta er alveg fáranlega fyndið dæmi,“ segir Lee í samtali við mbl.is.
„Í morgun til dæmis vaknaði ég og gaf syni mínum afmælisgjöf og sendi mynd af honum til fjölskyldu minnar í Ástralíu. Svo kvaddi ég og fór út á Snæfellsnes þar sem ég var með þrjár sýningar.“
Lee kemur iðulega fram undir nafninu Wally trúður og því er skiljanlegt að nóg sé um að vera hjá honum á þjóðhátíðardaginn.
Hann segir daginn afar sérstakan fyrir fjölskylduna og minnist þess þegar Róbert var yngri og hélt að allir landsmenn kæmu saman til að fagna afmælisdeginum hans á ári hverju.
Róbert stóð vaktina í sölutjaldinu
Róbert varði deginum með mömmu sinni þar sem þau sáu um söluvagn á 17. júní hátíðinni í Hafnarfirði.
„Hann er alltaf með okkur hér í sölutjaldinu,“ segir Alda í samtali við mbl.is og segir að Róberti finnist það afar gaman.
„Við vöknuðum klukkan sjö í morgun og gerðum pönnukökur og gáfum gjafir,“ segir hún að lokum.
