US-Vizepräsident JD Vance hat seine geplante Reise in die Schweiz abgesagt. Dort sollte er mit iranischen Unterhändlern über die Umsetzung des 14-Punkte-Rahmenabkommens sprechen, teilte ein Sprecher des Weißen Hauses in der Nacht auf heute mit. „Die Gespräche auf dem Bürgenstock werden heute nicht wie geplant stattfinden“, teilte das Schweizer Außenministerium in Bern mit.
Vance und die US-Delegation seien bereit zur Abreise gewesen, sobald die Pläne für die Gespräche abgeschlossen seien, hieß es in einer Mitteilung des Weißen Hauses. Die Logistik dieser Verhandlungen sei jedoch nie einfach oder vorhersehbar gewesen.
Vance sagte, die Verhandlungen würden stattfinden, ließ aber den Zeitpunkt offen. Er gehe davon aus, dass die technischen Verhandlungen irgendwann am Wochenende starten könnten.
Teheran fordert erste Zeichen für Umsetzung
Eine unmittelbare Reaktion der iranischen Regierung lag nicht vor. Der Iran hatte sich zu technischen Gesprächen bereiterklärt, nachdem die USA und der Iran mit einem Rahmenabkommen einen brüchigen Waffenstillstand um mindestens 60 Tage verlängert hatten.
Die halbamtliche iranische Nachrichtenagentur Tasnim meldete jedoch bereits gestern, die iranischen Unterhändler müssten von den USA erst Anzeichen für die Umsetzung des Rahmenabkommens sehen, bevor die nächste Runde der Gespräche beginnen könne. Es gebe zudem keine Bestätigung, dass die iranische Delegation nach Genf reisen werde.
Chamenei billigt Vereinbarung „unter Vorbehalt“
Der oberste geistliche und politische Führer des Iran, Modschtaba Chamenei, hatte zuvor das Rahmenabkommen mit den USA nach eigenen Worten nur unter Vorbehalten gebilligt.
Chamenei sagte laut der staatlichen iranischen Nachrichtenagentur IRNA gestern, er sei grundsätzlich anderer Meinung gewesen, habe seine Zustimmung aber aus Verantwortung gegenüber der iranischen Nation und seinen Verbündeten erteilt. Der Iran warte jetzt auf die Erfüllung seiner Bedingungen. Künftige persönliche Verhandlungen bedeuteten nicht, dass der Standpunkt des Gegners akzeptiert werde.
