Nogometaše Paname minute su dijelile do prvog boda u povijesti svjetskih prvenstava, no pokleknuli su u sudačkoj nadoknadi utakmice protiv Gane.
Panami je ovo tek drugi nastup na World Cupu. Debitirali su u Rusiji 2018. upisavši tri poraza uz razliku pogodaka 2-11.
Od Engleske su izgubili 1-6, od Belgije 0-3, a od Tunisa 1-2. SP 2026. su otvorili 0-1 porazom od Gane.
"Moramo što prije zaboraviti ovaj poraz. Morat ćemo biti mentalno jaki da se suočimo s Hrvatskom. Znamo da su vrlo težak protivnik, ali ako budemo igrali kao protiv Gane, možemo napraviti neke vrlo zanimljive stvari," kazao je branič Slovana iz Bratislave Cesar Blackman.
Jedan od najboljih igrač u panamskim redovima bio je vratar Orlando Mosquera kojem je ovo bio debi na World Cupu.
