In chiusura di G7, la premier Giorgia Meloni si è presentata in conferenza stampa dicendosi “soddisfatta” dei lavori di questo vertice, sottolineando che “abbiamo lavorato bene insieme con una convergenza che non era scontata: credo debba essere un'ottima notizia per tutti”. Il presidente del Consiglio, quindi, si è complimentato con Emmanuel Macron, padrone di casa, “per l'ospitalità e fargli i complimenti per aver fatto un ottimo lavoro in un momento sicuramente complesso dello scenario internazionale”. Nel giorno in cui il regolamento Ue per i rimpatri ha ottenuto il via libera del Parlamento, la premier dal G7 ha voluto ricordare che “tre dei focus che noi abbiamo discusso in questi giorni o che sono comunque oggetto delle dichiarazioni arrivano dal lavoro della presidenza italiana, sono una continuazione del lavoro della presidenza italiana: segnatamente intelligenza artificiale, partenariati internazionali, che significa prevalentemente Africa e soprattutto lotta al traffico di esseri umani”. Con Trump, ha aggiunto, “ci siamo trovati con una convergenza, che non è sempre scontata, a partire da Ucraina e indopacifico”.

Con Donald Trump , ha spiegato la premier in riferimento i loro rapporti che sembravano essersi raffreddati negli ultimi mesi, “ho trovato il rapporto immutato, non ci sono state recriminazioni o abbiamo parlato di quello che è successo: abbiamo un carattere abbastanza forte, siamo entrambi" leader che “difendono con determinazione l'interesse nazionale, non c'è bisogno che ci chiariamo quando non siamo d'accordo su qualcosa. Poi alla fine ognuno capisce qual è il punto di vista dell'altro e quindi siamo ripartiti su quello che si può fare nei prossimi mesi, come abbiamo fatto l'ultima volta che ci siamo incontrati in una situazione come questa”. La premier ha smentito le ricostruzioni legate a scherzi anche se, ovviamente, “in queste cose sempre c'è anche la battuta, c'è anche il momento in cui in attesa che inizi qualcosa si fa una battuta, però i temi che noi abbiamo trattato anche col presidente degli Stati Uniti sono i temi del vertice, quindi sono temi abbastanza seri, dalla questione iraniana, passando per l'Ucraina. Ci sono state diverse occasioni di confrontarci in questi due giorni, l'ultima poco fa insomma, prima di arrivare da voi”. Con Trump ci sono state convergenze “sulla resilienza economica, sui temi che riguardano la necessità, di una maggiore autonomia da difendere rispetto alle nostre eccessive dipendenze, nel rapporto con l'Africa e quindi nel rapporto con una cooperazione che non deve avere, un approccio paternalistico o caritatevole, ma che deve essere una cooperazione da pari a pari per costruire insieme un futuro con nostri vicini geografici che sono fondamentali e strategici in un tempo come questo. Penso all'Africa, penso anche all'America Latina”.
Ucraina
Uno degli obiettivi di cui si è discusso in questo meeting dei principali vertici del potere mondiale è stato il raggiungimento di una pace in Ucraina dopo oltre 4 anni di guerra. “Abbiamo concordato tutti sulla necessità di continuare a garantire il sostegno a Kiev mantenendo alta la pressione su Mosca. Sono molto contenta del fatto che su questo vi sia piena convergenza. L'unità dell'Occidente e la fermezza dell'Occidente continuano a essere, dal mio punto di vista, gli strumenti più efficaci per creare le condizioni necessarie per un negoziato reale”, ha spiegato la premier, aggiungendo che “l’obiettivo resta quello di favorire un confronto diretto tra Zelensky e Putin, ma mentre Zelensky ha fin qui dimostrato un'attitudine sincera verso la soluzione del conflitto, non da ultimo con una lettera aperta che tutti conoscete, che è stata inviata direttamente al Presidente Putin, nessun segnale serio in questo senso è arrivato da Mosca. Crediamo che quei segnali ora siano necessari”. A una parte dei lavori ha partecipato anche Volodymyr Zelensky, con il quale, ha spiegato Meloni, “abbiamo passato in rassegna la situazione sul campo che è molto diversa da quella che certa propaganda russa continua a cercare di vendere. Abbiamo concordato tutti sulla necessità di continuare a garantire il sostegno a Kiev mantenendo alta la pressione su Mosca”. Se si vuole arrivare a un risultato su questo tema, ha spiegato, “credo che sarebbe molto difficile proporre una persona che proviene da uno dei grandi Paesi europei. Una scelta di questo tipo renderebbe, dal mio punto di vista, più difficile raggiungere un accordo. Mi rivolgerei quindi verso le medie potenze dell'Unione europea”.
