In Tokyo, hundreds of students evacuated a school because of a fire.

A school in Tokyo was evacuated due to a fire, with around 300 students and staff present at the time. The fire occurred at Daisan Elementary School in the Kita ward. Firefighters worked to control the flames, and smoke was visible from the upper floors. No injuries were reported. Local authorities received notification of the fire at 10:58 local time on Friday but could not immediately confirm if everyone had been evacuated. The fire reportedly went out later.

Japanissa Tokion alueella Takinogawa ⁠Daisan peruskoulun oppilaat ja henkilökunta evakuoitiin tulipalon vuoksi, kertoi Japanin yleisradioyhtiö NHK perjantaina.

Kukaan ei tiettävästi loukkaantunut palossa.

Televisiokuvissa näkyi, miten kymmeniä palomiehiä työskenteli saadakseen liekit hallintaan koululla Kitan pohjoisen kaupunginosan alueella. Mustaa savua nähtiin tupruavan ylimmän kerroksen ikkunasta.

Tokion palokunnan virkamies kertoi AFP:lle, että he saivat tiedon koulun palosta kello 10:58 paikallista aikaa perjantaina, mutta eivät voineet välittömästi vahvistaa, että lapset ja henkilökunta oli evakuoitu.

Liekit näyttivät myöhemmin sammuneen tapahtumapaikalla olleen AFP:n toimittajan mukaan.

NHK:n mukaan koulussa oli paikalla noin 300 oppilasta ja henkilökunnan edustajaa.
