Whereas Donald Trump has offered voters a clear and compelling narrative, Democrats have provided only vague aspirations and long lists of policies. To win over voters—rather than scrounging protest votes—they must articulate a compelling economic vision, with wage-led growth as its foundation.

TEMPE—While no one should count their votes before they are cast, the Democrats appear well-positioned to gain control of the House of Representatives, and possibly even the Senate, in November’s midterm elections. A recent New York Times/Siena poll found Democrats leading the generic congressional ballot by 50% to 39% , and Silver Bulletin had Democrats up seven points at the start of this month—the best Democratic position of the cycle.
