Bela hiša je prvič v zgodovini gostila profesionalni športni dogodek - turnir v mešanih borilnih veščinah, ki so se odvili v čast 80. rojstnemu dnevu ameriškega predsednika Donalda Trumpa in 250. obletnici ZDA.

Bela hiša je turnir javnosti predstavila kot praznovanje 250. obletnice ZDA, ki je sovpadal s predsednikovim rojstnim dnevom. Slavje se je začelo s prihodom Trumpa, ki ga je spremljal predsednik UFC Dana White , iz Ovalne pisarne Bele hiše do posebej za to priložnost postavljenega ringa za okrog 4000 gledalcev. Ob Trumpu je ves čas sedela žena Melania .

Sledila je himna in prelet vojaških letal, nato pa dvoboji, vmes pa je Trumpu okoli 4300 prisotnih - večinoma vojaki, ki so dobili vstopnice zastonj, in osebje trenutne administracije, - zaploskalo in zapelo za rojstni dan. Vstopnice niso bile na voljo v redni prodaji.
Udeleženci turnirja so se pred prihodom v areno ogrevali kar znotraj Bele hiše.
Trump je pred dogodkom večkrat dejal, da bo to "največji šov na planetu". Vremenoslovci so sicer na dan praznovanja napovedovali nevihte, a nato dežja ni bilo.
Prišla Trumpovi sorodniki, politiki in poslovneži
Dogodka so se med drugim udeležili vsi Trumpovi bližnji sorodniki pa tudi ustanovitelj Facebooka Mark Zuckerberg , podpredsednik ZDA J. D. Vance , državin sekretar Marco Rubio , senator Lindsey Graham in Trumpov posebni odposlanec Steve Witkoff. Znanih obrazov iz sveta zabave ni bilo videti. Okoli 85.000 ljudi si je dogajanje ogledalo na velikem ekranu nedaleč od prizorišča, za kar so morali plačati vstopnino, preden so jih spustili skozi varnostni obroč.

Bela hiša je navedla, da je stroške, okoli 60 milijonov dolarjev (52 milijonov evrov) kril UFC, čeprav zvezna tožba proti dogodku, ki ga sodišče ni prepovedalo pred začetkom, trdi, da je sedem agencij zvezne vlade vložilo znatna sredstva in delovno silo. Tožba ne navaja natančno, koliko vladnih sredstev je bilo porabljenih za dogodek.
Gaethje presenetil favorita
Na turnirju, uradno imenovanbem UFC Freedom 250, je v lahki kategoriji sicer slavil Američan Justin Gaethje , ki je pripravil veliko presenečenje, saj je premagal favorita, gruzijsko-španskega tekmovalca Ilijo Topurio . Poznavalci pred dvobojem Gaethjeju niso pripisovali nobenih možnosti za zmago, še več, večina jih je predvidela, da bo poražem že v prvi rundi.
Slavja ob 250-letnici ZDA bi morali prvotno pospremiti tudi koncerti, a je večina glasbenikov zaradi povezav s Trumpovo Belo hišo svoje sodelovanje odpovedalo, zato je predsednik prejšnji mesec na svojem omrežju Truth Social zapisal, naj glasbene nastope preprosto odpovejo, ker da so izvajalci tako ali tako "precenjeni in dolgočasni".
