The Los Angeles Kings of the NHL have hired a new head coach.

Peter Laviolette has been named head coach of the Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League (NHL), according to the club. The terms of his contract were not disclosed. Jim Hiller was fired on March 2, and DJ Smith was appointed interim coach until the end of the season. Laviolette previously coached the New York Rangers, leading them to win the Presidents' Trophy and reach the Stanley Cup semifinals in the 2023-2024 season.
