Croatia: Four dead in collision between cruise ship and sailboat

A collision between a cruise ship and a sailing vessel occurred off the coast of Croatia, resulting in four deaths. The bodies of three victims were recovered from the water, while the fourth was retrieved from the sunken sailboat. Eνα καταμαράν και ένα ιστιοφόρο συγκρούστηκαν χθες στην Αδριατική με αποτέλεσμα τον θάνατο τεσσάρων ανθρώπων, με τις κροατικές Αρχές να ανασύρουν σήμερα τη σορό του τέταρτου θύματος από το κουφάρι του ιστιοπλοϊκού, το οποίο κατέληξε στον βυθό της θάλασσας.

Η σύγκρουση ανάμεσα στα δύο σκάφη, ένα καταμαράν με περισσότερους από 100 επιβαίνοντες και ένα ιστιοφόρο σημαίας Γαλλίας, σημειώθηκε χθες μεταξύ των τουριστικών νήσων Μπρακ και Σόλτα.

Οκτώ Τσέχοι επέβαιναν στο ιστιοπλοϊκό : τέσσερις εξ αυτών διασώθηκαν, τρεις σκοτώθηκαν επί τόπου και οι σοροί τους ανασύρθηκαν, ενώ υπήρχε και ένας αγνοούμενος.

«Το πτώμα του όγδοου μέλους (του πληρώματος) ανασύρθηκε από το ιστιοπλοϊκό που βυθίστηκε. Η σορός μεταφέρθηκε από τους αστυνομικούς για να υποβληθεί σε περαιτέρω εξετάσεις», ανέφερε το υπουργείο Μεταφορών και Θάλασσας της Κροατίας σε ένα δελτίο Τύπου.

Η έρευνα για τα αίτια του δυστυχήματος θα συνεχιστεί υπό την επίβλεψη της περιφερειακής Eισαγγελίας και της Εθνικής Υπηρεσίας Ερευνας για τα εναέρια, ναυτικά και σιδηροδρομικά δυστυχήματα, συμπλήρωσε το υπουργείο.

Σύμφωνα με κροατικά ΜΜΕ, οι τσεχικές Αρχές αναμένεται να συνδράμουν στις έρευνες.

Ο πρωθυπουργός της Κροατίας Αντρέι Πλένκοβιτς εξέφρασε τα συλλυπητήριά του χθες στις οικογένειες των θυμάτων και στον Τσέχο ομόλογό του Αντρέι Μπάμπις.
