Following the successful domestic and international performances and tours of the dance project *Asymmetry of the Embrace* (2024–25), the artist and her collaborators have been exploring the “embrace” as a collective space of coexistence. She understands the embrace as a fundamental, elementary gesture that is deeply rooted in human experience and can be both literal and figurative. In doing so, she explores what is human in the gesture and what is landscape-like in the human.
In her latest work, an interdisciplinary dance performance, she expands the meaning of gesture into an intimate, fragile, physical, and empathetic landscape of communication between women and men. The embrace becomes a sphere, a field where the erotic meets the imaginative. Sensory-somatic landscapes and the impulses arising from them reveal subtle nuances of the relationship within a spatiotemporal continuum. Yet every entry into an embrace also carries within it the possibility of dissolution.
The mediating body is not merely a thing, an intermediate substance, or connective tissue, but is sensuous in itself /…/ it is a totality of colors and surfaces, imbued with touch and sight; it is thus exemplarily sensory, enabling those who dwell within it and perceive it to sense everything outside that is akin to it; it is embedded in the fabric of things, yet it also draws them entirely toward itself, absorbs them, and at the same time transfers this identity to the things it encompasses, without complete overlap… (2000, 120)._ from a reflection by Jaka Bombač In every touch, every embrace, there is a whole world, fragile,

A hug reminds us what it means to be physically and sensually embraced within the human and also the more-than-human world—like an embodied landscape. The performance will be followed by a discussion with the creators, moderated by Jaka Bombač.
