Ein Programm für mehr Sicherheit an Hessens Bahnhöfen soll nach Angaben des hessischen Innenministers Roman Poseck (CDU) ausgeweitet werden. Für die zweite Jahreshälfte 2026 seien Kooperationen für die Bahnhöfe und Verkehrsstationen in Hungen, Herborn, Treysa (Schwalmstadt), Neu-Isenburg, Heppenheim und Bad Homburg vor der Höhe geplant, teilte das Innenministerium mit.

Seit Dezember 2023 sind Fulda, Hofgeismar, Hofheim am Taunus, Maintal, Neustadt und Rüsselsheim als Pilotkommunen bei dem Projekt dabei. Je nach Ort seien dadurch Maßnahmen für mehr Sicherheit etabliert worden. In Fulda etwa gebe es gemeinsame Streifen der Bundes-, Landes- und Stadtpolizei, eine neue Anlage zur Videoüberwachung und eine Waffenverbotszone. Zudem sei die Beleuchtung angepasst worden.

«Bahnhöfe sind weit mehr als Verkehrsstationen», sagte Poseck laut Mitteilung auf dem Hessentag in Fulda. «Sie sind Eingangsportale unserer Städte und Gemeinden; sie sind Begegnungsorte für Tausende Menschen und zentrale Knotenpunkte des öffentlichen Lebens.» Mit dem Programm namens «KOMPASSbahnhof» sorge das Land «gezielt für mehr Sicherheit an den hessischen Bahnhöfen».
