O ator Sean Penn , três vezes vencedor do Oscar , vai dirigir um filme sobre um policial que fica preso no ataque ao Capitólio dos Estados Unidos , ocorrido em 6 de janeiro de 2021, informaram nesta terça-feira (16) veículos da imprensa americana.

O longa vai abordar a vida desse policial, que pode ser interpretado pelo ator Bradley Cooper, segundo a publicação especializada Deadline.

A produção do filme, cujo roteiro também ficará a cargo de Penn, está prevista para meados de 2027. Os representantes do artista não responderam de imediato à AFP.

O ataque ao Capitólio ocorreu quando milhares de apoiadores de Donald Trump invadiram o Congresso no momento em que seria certificada a vitória eleitoral do democrata Joe Biden, que havia derrotado o republicano nas eleições presidenciais de 2020.

A insurreição, que chocou os Estados Unidos e o mundo, tornou-se parte do debate político nacional. Trump, que nunca reconheceu a derrota eleitoral, nega sua responsabilidade no ataque e se refere aos manifestantes como "patriotas".

Fanone falou nas audiências e em inúmeras entrevistas sobre os momentos traumáticos que viveu em 6 de janeiro, e também escreveu um livro sobre o tema. Por enquanto, porém, não foi revelada a identidade do policial que inspira o projeto, que, segundo a imprensa, pertence à Warner Bros.
