This Decision shall enter into force on the day following that of its publication.
"I sincerely congratulate the United States and Iran on the conclusion of a peace agreement that brings an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and a framework for further negotiations, a key step towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict", Guterres said on social media.
He thanked all those who mediated the deal, including Pakistan, Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
In a joint statement, the leaders of the quartet of European countries the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Italy also congratulated those involved on the agreement reached. 'This is an opportunity to re-establish regional stability and stabilise the global economy,' they said.
They called for the swift opening of the Strait of Hormuz, reiterated that Iran must not have nuclear weapons, and expressed their willingness to lift some sanctions against the country under certain conditions, according to the French news agency AFP.
'We stand ready to lift appropriate sanctions in response to Iran's clear and verifiable steps regarding its nuclear programme. We will work intensively with the US, Iran and regional partners to seize this moment, maintain momentum and achieve a long-term diplomatic solution,' they said, also supporting 'the stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon.'
The peace deal has so far been welcomed by, among others, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, her Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese and New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters, with all three stressing its importance to the global economy, according to the BBC.

At the same time, he warned the Trump administration not to rush to harass or bomb other countries and instead to seek diplomatic solutions. "You'd think we'd have learned those lessons by now, but it seems like we have to do it again every once in a while", the former U.S. president told ABC television.
