Njegova svetost patrijarh srpski Porfirije je razgovarao u Patrijaršijskom dvoru u Beogradu sa članovima Organizacionog odbora za obeležavanje stradanja Srba u Srednjem Podrinju i Birču tokom ratnih sukoba od 1992. do 1995. godine.

Poželevši dobrodošlicu delegaciji iz Republike Srpske Patrijarh Porfirije je naglasio da narod koji pamti svoje žrtve ostaje u neotuđivoj zajednici i sa Bogom i sa istinom ističući da je sećanje na postradale u Srednjem Podrinju i Birču neodvojivo od duhovnog života Crkve.

– Molitveno pamćenje 3267 nevno postradalih srpskih mučenika se ne odnosi na prošlost, već predstavlja živu odgovornost prema budućnosti i čini gradivnu jedinicu temelja istinskog mira među ljudima – istakao je Patrijarh srpski g. Porfirije.

Predstavnici Organizacionog odbora su Njegovu Svetost upoznali sa detaljima završnih priprema za ovogodišnje obeležavanje stradanja Srba u Srednjem Podrinju i Birču. Predočivši Patrijarhu predlog programa molitvenog sabranja koje će biti održano 4. jula 2026. godine u Bratuncu pod pokroviteljstvom najviših institucija Republike Srpske, članovi Odbora su naglasili da je podrška Srpske Pravoslavne Crkve i Patrijarha srpskog lično od nemerljivog značaja za sve poduhvate koji se odnose na očuvanje sećanja na postradale.
