Ministerul rus al Apărării a negat luni că armata sa a lovit mănăstirea istorică Lavra Pecerska din Kiev în timpul unui atac nocturn, susținând că a vizat fabrici militare, iar o rachetă de apărare aeriană Patriot fabricată în SUA a avariat, de fapt, lăcaşul religios, relatează Reuters.

Ministerul rus al Apărării a susținut că racheta Patriot care, potrivit acestuia, a avariat mănăstirea ar fi putut să se declanşeze accidental.
„Forțele armate ale Federației Ruse nu planifică și nu efectuează atacuri împotriva infrastructurii civile”, a declarat Ministerul rus al Apărării într-un comunicat.
„Conform informațiilor confirmate, complexul de clădiri de la Mănăstirea Pecerska din Kiev a fost lovit de o rachetă provenind de la sistemul american de apărare aeriană Patriot. Un posibil motiv al defecțiunii acestui sistem ar putea fi faptul că țările occidentale au furnizat regimului de la Kiev rachete a căror valabilitate expirase”, a mai susținut Ministerul rus al Apărării, în comunicat.
Bilanțul atacului rusesc asupra Ucrainei
Nouă persoane au fost ucise într-un val de atacuri rusești asupra Ucrainei, au declarat oficialii ucraineni.
Patru persoane au murit în atacurile asupra Kievului, în timp ce cinci salvatori au pierit încercând să stingă un incendiu provocat de un atac asupra orașului Harkov, din nord-estul țării, au adăugat oficialii.
Catedrala Adormirea Maicii Domnului din complexul Mănăstirii Pecerska, unul dintre cele mai importante situri religioase și culturale din Ucraina, a fost semnificativ avariată în ceea ce prim-ministrul ucrainean Iulia Svîrîdenko a numit un „atac brutal asupra poporului și a moștenirii noastre”.
