A cyclist was seriously injured on the descent from the summit.

A cyclist was seriously injured after falling while descending Vršič towards Kranjska Gora. Emergency responders provided initial care, and a police helicopter transported the injured cyclist to the University Clinical Center Ljubljana. Meanwhile, the 12th annual Red Bull Gony Pony event took place on Vršič, featuring cyclists ascending the highest road pass in Slovenia with a legendary Pony bicycle.

The cycling team AG Insurance oudSoudal has shared the first information about the condition of Urska Zigar after a serious fall at the end of the second stage of the women's race in Switzerland.

Slovene cyclist Urša Žigart (AG Insurance-Soudal) suffered a serious accident before the end of the second stage of the Swiss race, after which she was taken to hospital.

As reported by her team, the 29-year-old Slovenian cyclist fractured her jaw, and other injuries were not detected with the investigations so far.

According to the report of Vala 202 , after the fall , Zhigarta was conscious and before the start of the second stage for the boys , she spoke with her chosen one , Tadej Pogačar .

"Urška was treated by a medical team immediately after the fall, and was taken to hospital for further examination, where she was diagnosed with a jaw fracture, but fortunately, no other injuries were revealed during the examination", her team said in a press release.

The Slovenian is currently under observation for possible concussion.

"Our team of doctors are currently evaluating the next steps to ensure that Urska receives the best possible treatment and recovery, and at this stage we are focused solely on her health and well-being", they added.

The public will be informed of the next steps as appropriate.

Fresh or chilled

The women's second stage was won by Elisa Longo Borghini of Italy, who beat Canadian Sarah van Dam by 30 seconds, while the third place was taken by Steffi Häberlin of Germany, who was 47 seconds behind.

In the final kilometres, the Swiss Marlen Reusser and the Polish Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney from the first van Dam pursuit team missed the corner and finished in fourth and fifth place respectively, 47 seconds behind.

The overall leader is Longo Borghini, who is 27 seconds ahead of Brit Lauren Dickson and 34 ahead of van Dam.

On Friday, the third stage will be held in Bad Ragaz (120.8 km).
